You may remember the 2011 Kia Optima release that happened just a few weeks ago. It’s the sort of car that people talk about.
Well for the Korean car maker it’s not enough. They have recently announced there will be a Optima Coupe version and of course, a more traditional, Optima Station Wagon one. Quite a surprise I’d say.
It’s not as simple as it sounds, the glitches come from various mentality of regions and marketing issues. Kia’s design chief Peter Schreyer said that he’d love to do an estate version of the 2011 Kia Optima but it wouldn’t really work anywhere outside of Europe. That’s a bit of a concern for the US market but he thinks that a coupe version would really work there instead.
Sounds a bit complicated but it isn’t, since the Sedan made it’s debut at the New York Auto Show the 2011 Kia Optima got some really good press and i think that the coupe and estate variations of this handsome looking Korean creation would do even better.
For now, these cars are still in the planning stage but happily the Kia Optima Sedan will go on sale in the fall and will feature a list of three engine choices including a tasty 274 horsepower 2.0 liter GDI 4-cylinder turbocharged version.
