Land Rover’s recent success in sales is going to be influencing their decision making even more than most of us expected.
Their Defender and Discovery products were fairly successful but not very quick sellers. It was the Range Rover that changed this idea.
Its luxurious interior and incredible package it provided launched Land Rover into some serious sales. Spinning off more models of the Range Rover became a must.
After the Sport and plenty of limited edition models, it was the turn of the Evoque. The baby Range Rover, as it’s now known, simply stormed the markets.
From Los Angeles to Singapore, everybody wants one. There’s a lot to like and its probably the actual car turning heads rather than the marketing program.
Now though it seems that Land Rover feel the struck gold with the downsizing factor and they don’t plan to stop here.
As the world watches in amazement, they announce that they plan to make a smaller model than the Range Rover Evoque. The baby Range Rover having a baby doesn’t sound too ethical.
Regardless of the situation, it’s currently only an idea. There’s not even a concept or pre-production model. All we’re getting to see here is the making of a business case.
Letting the media know about the possibility of such a creation is just Land Rover’s way of probing market opinion early on.
If things are approved and Range Rover gets on to building the Evoque’s smaller brother it will have to face the BMW X1 and Audi Q1 CUVs.
