Almost every high-end model from Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW or Volvo has to have got a special long-wheelbase version put aside for the Chinese market. Why? Because Chinese people fancy long cars with exquisite features.
Recently, Mercedes-Benz has announced the availability of the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class L on the Chinese market, the long-wheelbase model arriving in three versions, the E200 L, E300 L Avantgarde as well as the top of the line E300 L Luxury variant.
The Mercedes-Benz E200 L is available at 436,800 YEN, the equivalent of $65,648, while the 300L Avantgarde is set at 474,800, which is $71,359 at today`s exchange rates. Finally, the top of the line E300 L Luxury can be yours at 499,800, or $75,116 in the American dollars.
As expected, the extended E-Class L is based on the regular model, except for the fact that is 134 mm longer. This means that the rear passengers will have plenty of time for different activities, like playing ping-pong or badminton. I`m just being ironical, by-the-way.
In the engine department, the E-Class E200 comes with a 2.0-liter turbo engine, developing 184 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the E300 L Avantgarde and E300 L Luxury pack the same engine but feature higher power. We are dealing here with 245 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. All versions are hooked to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The performance figures are also impressive: it takes just 8.6 seconds for the E200 L to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, while the E300 L is even more impressive: only 6.9 seconds, at a topping of 250 km/h.
