Lucid Motors Startup Plans Increase Mile Range Models, Will Tackle Tesla Model S

View

Even if I consider myself a BMW purist and love the BMW i3 all-electric model for what it represents in terms of technology, I have to admit that when it comes to high-performance and increase mile range, the electric cars from Tesla are way too advanced. In fact, they presently have no real competitors to threaten their supremacy.

However, from time to time electric startup companies try to get the proper motivation to create the perfect cars that would beat up the Tesla Model S, for instance, which comes with an astonishing range of 506 km, which is something unbeatable at the moment.

According to Electrek, Lucid Motors startup has recently declared that would create the perfect candidate way above the Tesla Models S, with an impressive range of around 643 km. The electric model will be created in collaboration with Samsung SDI, which will provide the high-performance battery pack.

We are looking here at a standard 199 kWh battery, adding as well an optional pack with another 130 kWh, which according to the company, will offer “the most energy dense in the automotive industry”. Also, imagine what the optional 130 kWh can do in terms of performance, and that, besides the impressive range.

We might be looking here at less than 2.5 second 100 km/h sprint achieved by Tesla`s Model S, coming as well with a mega 1,000 horsepower, thanks to two motors, with 400 horsepower up front and 600 horsepower motor at the rear. We should be able to find out more details about the Lucid Motors` high-performance electric version at the beginning of 2017.
