The Germans from Volkswagen decided to unveil the new Golf24, a competition model which is designed for the Nurburgring 24-hour race, an automotive event which will debut in the next few months, more exactly on June 23. The new competition model developed by Volkswagen is obviously based on the current Golf and is able to develop 440 horsepower.
The five-cylinder 2.5-liter turbo unit which sits under the bonnet gets extra improvements in order to be a respectable rival in the competition being able to develop 440 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque. The Volkswagen Golf24 passed the last tests and it’s officially ready to run the Nurburgring 24-hour race.
From the official details we find that the 2.5-liter unit gets matted to a sequential six-speed gearbox which comes with shift paddles for an easier and faster use. In the same time, the German people from Volkswagen celebrate 35 years since the first GTI model has been revealed.
