Volkswagen released details and photos of the new E-Bugster concept, a model which will be seen at the 2012 China Auto Show.
Under the hood sits an electric motor delivering 114 horsepower and a 28,3 kWh lithium-ion battery.

The electric powertrain provides an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10,8 seconds while a kinetic energy recovery system used in F1 vehicles is available too.

“The E-Bugster is a Beetle that could hardly be made to look more dynamic. Actually, it is a sports car. It has a height of less than 1,400 mm, which is about 90 mm less than that of the hard top Beetle,” says Volkswagen.

The Volkswagen E-Bugster measures 4,278mm in length and 1,838mm in width, dimensions comparable with the production model.

The German car maker says that the lithium-ion battery can be charged using AC current or an ultra-fast DC charging. More photos and details to be released at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show.
