The Germans from Mercedes are taking advantage of any opportunity to reveal new models. This time, the car manufacturer unveiled two new hybrid models at this year’s edition of the Detroit Motor Show.
Firstly ,we talk about the Mercedes E 300 BlueTEC, a model which benefits from a diesel engine producing 201 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque but also a 20 kW electric motor.
Even the model manages to return an impressive fuel economy of 4,2 liters/100 km with CO2 emissions of 109 g/km, it still delivers an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h of 7,5 seconds with a top speed of 242 km/h,.
“With these two E-Class models we are now continuing our comprehensive hybrid offensive. The modular technology opens up a quick way for us to complement other model series with hybrid models”, says Dr. Thomas Weber, Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.
On the other hand, the second hybrid model unveiled at Detroit is the Mercedes E 400, a vehicle which features a V6 gasoline unit offering 302 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque along the same 20 kW electric motor.
The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is improved to 6,7 seconds thanks to the increased power amount while the top speed drops to 209 km/h.
