The Germans at Mercedes unveiled a very frugal version of the new E-Class model, namely the E 220 BlueTEC BlueEFFICIENCY Edition.
As its name suggests, efficiency is the keyword for this model. Powered by a 2.1-liter diesel powerplant offering 170 horses and 400Nm of torque, the 0-100 km/h sprint is possible in 8,4 seconds with a top speed of 227 km/h.
Linked to an improved seven-speed 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission, the German model offers an average fuel economy of 4,4 liters/100km or 64,2mpg UK with CO2 emissions of 114 g/km.
These impressive numbers are also available thanks to fuel saving measures such as a start/stop system, active shutter grille, low-rolling resistance tires and a reduced ride.
Pricing for the Mercedes E 220 BlueTEC BlueEFFICIENCY Edition starts at €47,272 in Germany and the new model will go on sale next month, in September.
