The British sub-brand of the Germans from BMW decided to reveal the details on the most powerful diesel option in the range, the Cooper SD. The new Mini Cooper SD comes with a 2.0-liter unit able to develop 143 horsepower and 305 Nm of torque.
Compared to the current Cooper D which packs the 1.6-liter engine, we saw an increase of 31 horsepower. The 2.0-liter engine which equips the Cooper SD is borrowed from the BMW’s 1 and 3 Series and manages to obtain a fuel consumption of just 4,3 l/100 km while the CO2 emissions stop at 114 g/km. Together with the efficient unit, a Start&Stop system alongside a system which recovers the braking energy take care of the efficiency.
The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved by the new Cooper SD in about 8,1 seconds which is quite resonable. The new diesel unit can be fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox but also a six-speed automatic one.
