Audi releases details and photos of the 2013 S3 Sportback, a model which will be seen next month at the Geneva Motor Show.
Under the hood of the sportier German model sits a 2.0-liter TFSI unit producing 300 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 380Nm of torque from 1,800 rpm.
When linked to a six-speed manual transmission, the new S3 Sportback sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,5 seconds, hitting a top speed of 250 km/h. If you get the optional S-Tronic gearbox, the acceleration will be done in just 5 seconds.
Fuel economy figures for the latter are rated at 6,9 lt/100km (34,1mpg US) while the manual transmission returns 7 lt/100km (33,6mpg US).
Noteworthy features of the new model include the S sport suspension lowering the ground clearance by 25mm, 340mm red brake calipers, 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/40 tires and other minor tweaks. Audi says that the new S3 Sportback is also lighter with a total weight of 1,445 kilograms, an important improvement which will translate into a better performance.
