The Audi R8 e-tron will go on sale towards the end of this year, so it is normal to get more and more details that weren’t know. According to Autocar, the new model is quite heavy as it tips the scales at 1,840 kg or 4,056 lbs.
The extra weight comes mainly due to the battery pack which will power the car for around 450 kilometers. The British folks at Autocar managed to do a test drive with the German electric sports car, that’s how they got the extra details.
Driving range is certainly important, so Audi had to fit as many batteries as possible. Even so, the added weight won’t slow down the car too much as the 0-100 km/h sprint is possible in a quite impressive 3,9 seconds.
Top speed is limited at 210 km/h in order to maximize the efficiency but it can be extended to 250 km/h. As a reminder, the Audi R8 e-tron has two electric motors capable to produce 462 horsepower. As we know, electric motors offer an instant torque, in this particular case we talk about 920 Nm of torque.
Pricing details on the new Audi R8 e-tron are not available yet but we do know that it will be available later this year.
