Land Rover is planning the introduction of a new Defender in a couple of years, the gorgeous and iconic model hitting its dealerships in 2019.
We are dealing here with the replacement of the current generation of Defender which will be put off in a couple of weeks, the new one coming fully changed in terms of design and body style.
The news is also backed by Gerry McGovern, the Land Rover CEO, who stated that the new model would be a “modern Defender”. The same McGovern also said that the 2019 Defender would have nothing in common with the concepts presented at the different shows in the last years.
The 2019 Land Rover Defender will sit just above the Discovery lineup and below the Range Rovers models, coming with an evolutionary design and an interesting body style.
The new Defender will be built in two two-door models, four-door long wheelbase model as well as in two- and four-door pickup models. So the entire lineup would be a real interesting one.
The company also plans to build just around 100,000 vehicles every year, but unfortunately, we do not have the powertrain details. We should expect fresh news next year!
