Mitsubishi released official information on the debut of the new Mirage hatchback, a model seen for the first time at this year’s edition of the Tokyo Auto Show.
The new Japanese model which will arrive in Japan on August 31st will be available exclusively with a tiny 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit capable to develop 68hp and 86Nm of torque.
When coupled to a CVT gearbox, the fuel economy figures are very good at 3,6 liters/100km (63,9mpg US). You will get these fuel consumption ratings only when the model is fitted with a start/stop system which is optional.
“The new Mirage is a global compact car developed on the concepts of high fuel efficiency, affordable and compact (easy to drive), the ideal characteristics sought in a compact,” says Mitsubishi.
Thanks to the decent fuel consumption figures, the new Mirage is 20% better than the 2015 Fuel Efficiency Standards in Japan.
The new Mirage is offered with several exterior finishes including Cassis Purple Metallic, Lemonade Yellow Metallic and Pop Green Metallic.
