The Germans at Volkswagen officially announced that the new Golf R, the company’s most powerful model, will be available for pre-order in the States starting January 8th. The company will take only 500 pre-orders but all the units will get some special features.
To be more specific, they will benefit from bi-xenon headlights, 19-inch aluminum wheels and a special Lapiz Blue Metallic finish. Under the hood sits a 2.0-liter TSI engine producing 292 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Linked with a six-speed DSG transmission, the 0-100 km/h takes only 4,9 seconds with a top speed limited at 250 km/h.
The 2015 VW Golf R also comes with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system so you don’t have to worry about the vehicle’s stability and handling.
Inside, buyers will get a premium Fender audio system, satellite navigation, Park Distance Control and much more. If you are among the first 500, VW will also give you a carbon fiber keychain and VW R watch, all proving that you got one of the first units in the United States.
Pricing for the new Volkswagen Golf R starts at $39,900 without the $820 destination and handling fee.
