The Germans from Volkswagen officially unveiled today the next-generation Lavida, a model specially designed for the Chinese market.

Even if the model’s name tells you almost nothing, the German car is at its second generation in China with sales exceeding 700,000 units from 2008 to present.

As you probably noticed, the new VW Lavida borrows several aesthetic elements from the better-known Passat but also gets a decent amount of safety systems such as front airbags, ABS and ESP for the entry-level model.

In terms of power, the customers will choose between three petrol units starting with a 1.4-liter TSI engine with 140 horsepower and continuing with more powerful 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter engines.

Volkswagen uses a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission to transfer the power from the engine to the front axle.
