A rumor report from the famous car publication “The Truth About Cars” states that the future of the next-generation of F-150 Atlas might be jeopardized since the aluminum alloy provided by its suppliers, which is supposed to build the car`s structure, doesn’t meet the Ford`s standards and requirements.
In terms of profits and also of the best-selling truck in the entire US, the F-150 Atlas is considered to be the Ford`s cash star, with all the “psychological pressure” it has to put up with from its tough competitors – General Motors and Ram.
In case the future production of the Ford F-150 Atlas will be delayed, then the Ford Company might be in trouble. Worse than that, the production at Dearbon Truck Plant has also been put off for six to ten weeks.
Without being experts on metallurgy, the TTAC mentions that the problem with the aluminum alloy provided by the Ford`s suppliers are directly connected to its elastic modulus, which is only a third of what is found in the steel, making it thus quite difficult to form.
Let`s hope the Ford`s brains will find a way out of this rather unpleasant situation and will carry on with the production of F-150 Atlas.
