The Germans from Opel decided to extend the engine range of the current-generation Astra with a new and powerful 2.0-liter CDTI engine.
The diesel power plant is capable to deliver 192 horsepower and 400Nm of torque for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 8 seconds.
Fuel economy is rated at 5,1 liters/100km (55,4mpg UK) as it comes with a start/stop system.
The new 2.0liter biturbo engine is borrowed from the Opel Insignia and will be available only for the five-door hatch and wagon Astra.
British customers have to know that the company will take orders starting tomorrow with prices from £24,095 (hatchback) and £25,110 (wagon).
Besides the new engine, these models come with a new front bumper, 18-inch alloy wheels, revised grille and fog lamps but also chrome trim and a two-pipe exhaust. At the interior you will find a flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather along with floor mats and alloy pedals.
