The Germans from Opel decided to introduce an automatic gearbox in the range of the Insignia OPC, mode exactly for the sedan and ST versions. The new six-speed automatic gearbox comes as an alternative to the manual one but also provides slightly different performance figures.
In fact, the automatic gearbox coupled to the 2.8-liter V6 engine will be able to sprint the model from 0 to 100 km/h in 6,3 seconds for the sedan version while the Sports Tourer gets an acceleration time of 6,6 seconds. Even if you noticed or not, the performance of the models are negatively affected by the new transmission.
The automatic gearbox is a more comfortable alternative indeed but the fuel consumption increases also to about 11 liters/100 km for both of the versions. Opel announced that the new automatic six-speed gearbox will increase the CO2 emissions level to 251 and 259 g/km but there is no room for worry as the figures are not changed that much.
