The 2016 Paris Motor Show is opening its gates in mid-September, with a lot of carmakers already preparing their latest concepts, prototypes or new-gen models.
Amongst top competitors, Opel is already bringing its high-end models at the event, and even if the new 2017 Meriva is not that high-end, it surely gained our respect and admiration, while being caught running some heavy testing at the Ring or on the roads.
I mean, why not taking into consideration the all-new Meriva, one of the hottest models on the MPV market, with some improvements that make it closer to a crossover. And Europeans do love MPVs with crossover highlights.
And one of the most important highlights that the new Meriva is bringing forward is the new doors which will replace the suicidal ones, along with the new ground clearance which will make it look like a genuine crossover.
So far, the details list is rather scarce, especially inside and in the engine department. However, according to recent reports, the 2017 Opel Meriva is likely to borrow the powertrain lineup from Astra, including a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, developing 105 horsepower, as well as the 1.4 engine with 125 horsepower.
A higher 1.6-liter diesel engine with 95 HP and 136 HP will also make its way under the hood. The good news is that all engines will be extremely fuel-efficient.
We expect full details to be unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, meanwhile enjoy the spy photos with the 2017 Opel Meriva running some street tests!
