The French people from Renault released full details on the new Twizy EV, a small but efficient vehicle which fits best the crowded cities and also is eco-friendly as it does not pollute the surrounding environment. The French zero-emission vehicle had been revealed in its final production version at the Barcelona Auto Show alongside more details and official pricing. The initial reveal took place in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Therefore, Renault Twizy comes with a starting price of just €6,990, which, according to Renault, it makes the model more affordable than a three-wheel scooter as the taxes are significantly smaller. If you want one of these it should be known that two different versions will be available. More exactly, you can opt for Twizy 45 which requires no driving license mainly because it can reach a top speed of just 45 km/h being fitted with a 5-horsepower electric engine.
On the other hand, the second version starts from €7,690 and features a 17-horsepower engine. The price above it’s for the Urban version while the top of the range model, called Technic, costs €8,490 being fitted with the same motor. In terms of dimensions, the electric vehicle is 2,337mm long, 1,191mm wide, 1,461mm tall and features a set of 13-inch wheels, figures which make the vehicle able to sneak through the congested traffic.
All the versions of the new Renault Twizy are fitted with lithium-ion batteries able to provide a driving range of around 100 km/h while about three hours and a half will be needed for a complete charge. However, besides the unit price, you will have to pay a battery lease of €49 every month, something that considerably adds to the model’s price over the time.
Even we talk about a tiny model with eco-friendly purposes, Renault will provide all the comfort and safety for a 2011 model. Therefore, the model is fitted with four-point seatbelts, USB and iPod connectivity, a Parrot audio kit with Bluetooth and rear parking sensors.
Moreover, if you really want to get a unique vehicle, Renault provides a customization program that will allow you to personalize your model with decals or custom colors for the wheels. Renault Twizy goes on sale later this year but you can pre-order the model right now making a €20 deposit on Twizy’s official webpage.
