The earlier rumors according to the Germans from Audi are preparing a new prototype for the well-known Le Mans race are confirmed now. In fact, Audi switched from the R15 prototype to R18 LMP1, a model which got officially revealed today.
The new model will hit the circuit for the first time in an official competition at the Spa Francorchamps circuit, in Belgium, on May 8th. Even the performance figures are still unkown, the new Audi R18 LMP1 comes with a 3.7-liter TDI engine able to develop a number of horsepower unknown for now, but certainly enough.
In the rear we can also notice a horizontal pillar as a new component in the R18’s structure together other components able to improve the dynamics of the prototype. Audi announced that they fitted a new six-speed transmission on the new Audi R18 teaming with the 3.7-liter V6 TDI propeller found under the hood.
