SAAB Cars North America will continue to offer GM’s OnStar feature for its vehicles. GM ownership of SAAB may have ended but relationships between the two companies continue to thrive.
As far as OnStar servicing is concerned it will start with the 2010 model cars and will be offered in the same format as GM’s US vehicles. Buyers get the first year free and then there’s an option to renew the contract.
This service type was provided by GM to Volkswagen, Audi, Subaru, Lexus, Acura and Isuzu but since that contract expired and a new one is yet to be drawn up the last six years will be plenty. Or at least for the moment the will.
SAAB was sold to Spyker by GM back in January but recently, Spyker CEO Victor Muller has announced that the Swedish brand is attracting offers from the chinese automaker BAIC. If the offers get good enough, SAAB could be sold, again, in an attempt to cot costs for Spyker and perhaps help them break into profit.
There’s also the option of just technology being sold to BAIC and perhaps comercial rights which may sound better to enthusiasts from around the world.
