GM revealed to dealers that the production will not be killed in the next few years as they first seem to indicate. Saturn will remain in production at least until 2012 or 2013.
The bed part of the situation is that the current production will not have any improvements or updates before then.
Even though the dealers are happy for the moment, I think it’s quite clear that GM has some money problem. Trying to refresh or re-engineer the current production might not be the best decision for the moment.
This doesn’t change the fact that Saturn’s production could still be stopped just that it won’t happen for at least another three or four years. Saturn’s general manager explained that the company’s future should be known in the next three or four weeks.
