Volkswagen`s main subsidiary Skoda recently announced its presence at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show with an interesting model lineup, including the new 2018 Skoda Rapid, the facelifted coming with lots of styling improvements, new features inside and mostly interesting, with a new engine under the hood.
Visually, the 2018 Skoda Rapid facelift received the new bi-xenon technology, LED daytime running lights and updated fog lights. Optionally, the model can also equip the C-shaped headlights with the optional LEDs or black tint.
Also, the facelifted model has also received and extended rear window, offering as well a wide choice of wheels – 15-, 16- and 17-inch, respectively. As for the interior, the new model is also looking fresh.
We are looking here with new air nozzles, updated air-conditioning system with new instruments in the control panel, WLAN hotspot, adding as well the Skoda Connect services with Infotainment Online and CareConnect systems.
The plethora of safety systems in their newest form are also present – multi-collision brake, fatigue detection, trailer-stabilization program, city emergency braking, hill climb assist, park distance control and front assist.
The car`s main highlight is however the new engine it received. We are dealing here with the 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine, the one that replaces the former 1.2-liter. Even if it is about a downsized engine, the power configuration and low fuel-consumption makes it quite competitive.
Both versions, the Rapid and the Rapid Spaceback will come with 95 horsepower and 110 horsepower, respectively. According to the carmaker, the standard Rapid reaches 100 km/h in 11 seconds, and comes with 4.4L / 100 km. On the other hand, the Rapid Spaceback takes 9.8 seconds for the same straight line, while the consumption stands at 4.5L / 100 km. the CO2 emissions are also set at 101 g/km and 104 g/km, respectively.
