The Czech people from Skoda announced that the new Rapid sedan entered production at the Pune factory in India. Skoda Rapid is a new name in the automotive market and represents a small family sedan which is actually based on the Volkswagen Vento. The Czech model is 4,4 meters long, 1,7 meters wide and 1,4 meters tall.
Its luggage space of almost 500 liters makes it a suitable family vehicle even the engine range is not very rich. Skoda will offer the new Rapid with a 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines producing 103 horsepower.
“India is the first market in which we will introduce the new Rapid. It highlights the significance of that country for our company. We want to step on the pedal all over the world in the coming years. In order to do so, we will clearly increase our activities outside of Europe,” said Winfried Vahland, Chairman of Skoda.
The new Skoda Rapid is exclusively produced at the Pune factory in western India but we can expect for Skoda to manufacture the model in other few facilities in order to keep up with the demand. You can also get a closer look at the model by watching the video below:
