Tata-Motors-owned Jaguar is planning a more affordable yet still luxurious SUV in the shape of the 2018 E-Pace, the model being recently spied in full camouflage while undergoing some snowy tests.
This is the cheaper alternative for the $41,990 MSRP Jaguar F-Type, the new SUV coming with plenty of borrowings from its bigger brother, in terms of design and interior features.
Even if it is set below the F-Pace, the future E-Pace is going to be big, big enough to accommodate enough room for rear legroom, adding as well additional compartments for luggage and other personal items.
The test mule seen here is wearing full camouflage, which means that it will borrow the F-Pace`s luxurious and high-class design language. It will also come as the direct competitor of the new BMW X1 and Audi Q3, so it has got to be ready this summer just in time to get in line with its competitors.
The all-new Jaguar E-Pace will also resemble in size with the Range Rover Evoque, borrowing as well some new mechanics from the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
As for the car`s engine lineup under the hood, rumors have it that the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace would come with a wide range of turbocharged four-cylinder engines, adding as well a hybrid variant later on. The cheaper versions are set to arrive with a front wheel configuration, while the top of the line variants will be fitted with an all-wheel setup.
The carmaker will officially introduce the new 2018 Jaguar E-Type in May, the model heading to dealerships at the end of the year. According to new reports, the SUV is expected to come with a starting price of less than $40,000.
