The Tiguan mid-sized SUV from Volkswagen Group recently entering the market is just about to receive a hardcore sibling in the shape of the “R” version seen in the video below while running some full tests at the Ring.
As we can depict from the video, the test mule of the upcoming R version is not wearing any camouflage, which is a good thing, does foreseeing the aggressive styling it will come with.
The future production version will come with sporty styling features like extended wheel archers, front grille and side mirrors with matte silver accents, the same quad-outlet exhausts at the rear and the massive alloy wheels.
Just like the R version of the much more potent Touareg, the new Tiguan R is also getting its fair share of performance under the hood, along with the company`s new mechanicals.
We should be seeing thus an upgraded 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, the same one found on the present Golf R, with increase performance than the Golf R`s 206 kW and 380 Nm of torque.
This would also make it more potent than the stock turbo-diesel engine with a twin-turbo flat-fur configuration found underneath the present Tiguan, which outputs 176 kW and 500 Nm of torque. The engine would also get the same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic with 4MOTION all-wheel drive, the same present on the Golf R.
Also, according to new reports, the Tiguan R will come with a 100 km/h sprint in less than 6.0 seconds, which would make it the fastest SUV in the mid-sized segment. More details will be announced later on at the end of the year, meanwhile, enjoy the spy video with the all-new VW Tiguan R running hard test at the Ring!
