Spy Video at the Ring: 2017 Opel Insignia Runs Heavy Tests

View

A couple of years ago, the Opel Insignia was declared “Car of the Year” in Europe, with the carmaker still improving the car`s aerodynamics and performance.

Without resting on its laurels, the German based carmaker is doing everything it can to keep up with the latest technology in the auto industry and is already planning an all-new Insignia. The real proof is the above spy video with the test mule while undergoing tests at the Ring.

The model is expected for an official debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show this September, the model being rumored to sit on the carmaker`s new E2XX architecture, which is far more advanced than the other ones used so far, like the still impressive GM Epsilon platform.

This means that the model will use advanced body composites like aluminum and carbon fiber, which will make it much lighter and more performance than the current model. Even if the specifications list are rather scarce at the moment, we should expect a whole new range of engines, with increased performance and torque figures.

Speaking about performance, the 2017 Opel Insignia, is reported to come with a wide range of four-cylinder turbocharged engines, and that in Europe alone. On the Australian market, the new Insignia will arrive as the new Holden Commodore, slotted to arrive as a 2018 YM.
