Spy Video: Upcoming 2018 Bentley Continental Plays at the Ring

View

While some carmakers are keen on displaying their latest concepts and custom-built hot rides at the 2016 SEMA show, currently held in Las Vegas, others are busy hard-testing their new prototypes. It is also the case of the British Bentley auto maker, which has sent two test mules on the Ring, of what seems to be the upcoming Continental model.

The prototypes were also spied in a video while tackling the corners at high-speed and judging by the way they look, the model is definetely going to be more advanced in terms of aerodynamics, more track-focused and extremely powerful.

We are looking here at both the future coupe and convertible models, with some significant changes at the exterior and high-tech features inside. The body styling is visibly close to the EXP10 Speed 6 concept, revealed last year at the Geneva Motor Show, meaning they will be closer to the ground and tweaking more aggressive front fascia with wider inner headlights, with smaller lights on both sides. At the rear, the arches come with sportier profile and increase aerdynamics.

The upcoming Bentley Continental will stand on the company`s new MSB platform, also underpinning other hot models within the group, such as the 2017 Porsche Panamera, meaning that it will cut some weight – around 150 kg – for improved performance and driving capabilities.

In the engine department, the new Bentley Continental will use a 6.0-liter W12 twin-turbocharged engine, first introduced on the most powerful SUV ever built, the Bentayga. This means that we could expect rather the same 608 horsepower. More than that, according to latest reports, the carmaker is also likely to introduce a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, followed by hybrid version as well. Expect the model to be released as a 2018 MY, with full details to emerge somewhere next year.
