The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) implemented more rigorous standards for the Top Safety Pick+ back in September, and new models have been called out to receive their highest rating.
This is also the case for the Subaru Forester, Legacy and Outback that, thanks to the EyeSight Technology, have been named, amongst other 22 vehicles, a 2014 TSP+, by the IIHS.
There were two crash tests for the three Subaru models, namely, one at 12 miles per hour and the other at 25 miles per hour. The tests were meant to check how well the systems work in order to absorb the impact more affectively.
After each test, the vehicles were given a rating starting with Superior, which is the best, and followed by Advanced or Basic. Cars that did not offer a collision warning or auto braking did not receive any points.
To receive a TSP+ rating, a vehicle must gain at least the Basic level for crash prevention, but all three Subaru vehicles earned the maximum points to receive a Superior rating, making the cars safe on the roads.
