Even the Toyota Aqua might not sound very familiar to you, there is no reason to panic as we talk about the new Prius C, a model sold globally under this name but known in Japan as Aqua.
It is quite strange that the Japanese company decided to give a different name in the local market to a model which is better known as Prius C. The Toyota Aqua is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit offering 74 horses and 111 Nm of torque along an electric motor producing 61 horsepower and 169 Nm of torque.
Considering its small dimensions of 3,995mm long, 1,695mm wide and 1,445mm tall, the new Aqua is the smallest hybrid in range and returns very good fuel figures. The combined fuel consumption of the Toyota Aqua is 2,8 liters/100 km or 83,3mpg US.
Toyota plans to put the new Aqua on sale in Japan by the end of December while the Prius C will hit the European showrooms somewhere next year. In conclusion, besides the name, there is no difference between the Toyota Aqua and the global Prius C.
