Toyota officially announced the introduction of a new 2.8-liter D-4D unit capable to produce 174 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. It is linked to a six-speed manual transmission while an automatic one is also available.
The latter will also provide extra 30 Nm of torque. Fuel economy figures are rated at 39,2 mpg UK or 7,2 liters/100 km for the automatic model. The new 2.8-liter engine actually replaces a larger 3.0-liter diesel unit and promises to offer improved economy figures by about 9%.
According to the company, the new engine is available on both three- and five-door models in the United Kingdom. They also introduced new equipment for the base Active model.
We talk about a standard DAB digital radio while the Toyota Touch 2 system is optional. There’s also a new Safety Pack that brings a lot of features such as Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Pre-Crash Safety, Lane Change Assist and more.
Pricing in the UK starts at £35,895 but can easily go above £50,000 if you want the range-topping model with an automatic transmission.
