US: 2018 Lexus LS Arrives Early Next Year from $75,000

It may not be the perfect match for its competitors (BMW 7-Series or new Mercedes-Benz S-Class), but it is definitely that Japanese luxurious fifth-gen Lexus LS that will delight you with high-end features inside and the latest safety features.

Lexus announced the arrival of the 2018 LS in the United States next February, with prices to start from $75,000, the flagship coming with a new rear-wheel drive platform. This means it is bigger, with plenty of space inside the cabin and powerful engines under the hood.

In the safety features zone, the model is top class, as Toshio Asahi, Chief engineer at Lexus, explained in a recent interview. This means two advanced systems – Lexus Safety System + and Lexus Safety System + A, the second one coming with Front PCS with Pedestrian Detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Intelligent High Beam, Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Alert.

Those wanting more advanced features for extra cash, can also get the Pedestrian Alert, Active Steering Assist, Lane Trace Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Alert, Front Lateral Side PCS or Road Sign Assist.

Visually, the 2018 Lexus LS looks exceptionally high-end with its evolutionary design language. However, for extra bucks, you can enhance the looks of it by adding new styling elements, like wider front and rear brakes or 20-inch alloy wheels, all part of the F Sport package.

Lexus is well-known for equipping its models with up-to-date technology, and the 2018 Lexus LS is no exception. The suite of high-tech equipment comprises the Lexus Enform Safety Connect with App Suite 2.0, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Slacker, Yelp and NPR One. Other features include 4G LTE wi-fi, Emergency Assistance Button, Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification and Stolen Vehicle Notification.

In the engine department, the all-new 2018 Lexus LS comes with the LS 500 with 410 horsepower, as well as the LS 500h with 354 horsepower. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is done in 4.5 seconds and 5.4 seconds, respectively. The petrol variant is also offered with the Performance Package with Variable Gear Radio Steering, Active Rear Steering and Active Stabilizer.
