The Germans from Volkswagen officially confirmed that the Amarok pickup model will enter production these days at the Hanover plant in Germany following to go on sale in the home market early this summer.
The Amarok off roader entered production about two years ago and is currently produced in Argentina. Volkswagen is planning to produce about 40,000 units each year.
Volkswagen worked hard to upgrade the assembly lines of the Hanover plant in order to fit the production of the new Amarok while a special ceremony held on Thursday opened the production.
“Volkswagen has big growth opportunities worldwide in the light commercial vehicles segment. With the start of production in Hanover, the Amarok has finally arrived in Europe,” commented Martin Winterkorn, CEO at VW.
Along with the first photos of the production line, the German company also said that about 185 Amarok units will exit the plant every day.
