Volkswagen celebrates these days a quite important milestone for the company, or for the Passat model, to be more specific.
The Volkswagen Passat reaches 40 years of production, as the first generation entered the assembly lie in 1973. Even from the first model the company knew that it will become an important one for them with a total of 2,5 million units sold in seven years.
Back to the present, Volkswagen sold a total of over 20 million vehicles during seven generations.
“40 years ago debuted a new Volkswagen, which ushered in a new era with modern technology and contemporary design: the Passat,” says the company.
The original Volkswagen Passat was designed by Giorgio Giugiaro and suffered minor improvements over generations in order to keep the sales up and become an iconic model. Volkswagen announced no plans to offer a celebrating edition of the current Passat yet.
