The 2016 IAA Commercial Vehicles Shows, which opens its gates on the 22nd of September, in Hannover, Germany, will be the host of the most advanced vehicles in terms of autonomous driving, innovation and environmentally friendly logistics.
Recently, we have seen at work the Swedish Volvo carmaker with its latest self-driving trucks, while Mercedes-Benz has put to the test the all-new Urban eTruck Concept. Now it was high-time we got a closer look at the Volkswagen`s e-Crafter Concept, which would make room for a production model with an electric drivetrain.
The Volkswagen e-Crafter Concept is another innovative model with an extremely appealing design, complemented with the one-off Reef Blue Metallic exterior color, custom front and rear bumpers, protective side strips, radiator grille with blue bar, the C-shape DRLs and a few more.
The cabin of the e-Crafter Concept comes with a “power meter” which replaces the conventional rev counter, along with titanium black and blue trim on the seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel with blue decorative stitching.
The van`s main highlight is found under the hood, the model packing an electric motor, capable of delivering 134 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. The electric drivetrain is hooked to a massive 43 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, mounted under the cargo space floor.
The entire drivetrain comes with zero CO2 emissions and an impressive range of more than 200 km, with the battery being recharged in around 45 minutes. The concept van also comes with a service station, which provides storage and recharging options for e-bikes` replacement batteries. Full options can be seen in the media gallery below.
