It is the final countdown before the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show and a lot of carmakers are preparing their newly models. Volkswagen is now exception but couldn’t wait and has already unveiled the long-awaited Golf R Variant.
I know that the model is coming with an extraordinary and sporty design, but what is the coolest think about this particular model is its powertrain.
I know it is a more practical model than the Volkswagen Golf R, but this one is still powerful, as it comes with a 2.0-liter TSI petrol burner, which outputs an impressive 300 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque. The unit is hooked to a 6-speed manual or an optional dual-clutch transmission.
This should be enough for the Golf R Variant to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds, at a top speed, electronically limited, of 250 km/h.
Apart from the amazing performance on the road, the Volkswagen Golf R Variant is also beautiful, even if it comes with a sporty and more aggressive body style, which reveals the high gloss black diffuser, the R design bumper fitted with large air intakes, or the distinctive radiator grille.
Inside the Golf R Variant, the cabin is tweaked with sport seats, the R logo on the backrest, infotainment system, automatic air conditioning or the Nappa Carbon leather upholstery.
