Volkswagen introduces today the Golf Variant 4Motion in Germany with a starting price tag of €24,400.
The new model is powered by a 1.6-liter TDI unit capable to produce 105 horsepower and 250Nm of torque. In this configuration, fuel economy figures are rated at 62,7mpg UK or 4,5 liters/100km.

A more powerful 2.0-liter TDI engine producing 150hp and 320Nm of torque is also available. This model needs 4,8 liters to complete 100 kilometers.

As you probably noticed the 4Motion moniker, the German wagon comes with the company’s all-wheel drive system.

“The permanent all-wheel drive of the new Golf Variant is one of the most modern and efficient systems of this kind in the world,” says the company.

Volkswagen also says that the 1.6-liter model can pull up to 1,900 kilograms thanks to the swiveling trailer hitch while the more potent unit can pull 2 tones.
