The Germans at Volkswagen decided to take advantage of the Los Angeles Auto Show and debut the new Jetta Hybrid, a model which is able to return a fuel economy of 45mpg US.
Under the hood we find a 1.4-liter gasoline engine capable to deliver 147 horsepower and 250Nm of torque but also an electric motor offering 27 horses.
Volkswagen fitted a 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery which weighs about 35 kilograms. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is possible in about 9 seconds while the fuel consumption, as mentioned above, is rated at 45mpg US (5,2 liters/100km).
Standard features of the new Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid include LED rear lights, ABS, ESP, leather steering wheel and two-zone climate control. Optional features include keyless entry, 16-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof and heated seats.
The range-topping SEL2 variant gets fog lights, larger alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights and a reversing camera. Pricing and availability details for the new Jetta Hybrid will be released soon.
