The Germans at Volkswagen introduced the all-new Golf GTI, the high-performance version of the seventh-generation Golf. In terms of performance, the new Golf GTI is motivated by a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit producing 220 horsepower and 350Nm of torque.
The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 6,5 seconds while the top speed is rated at 246 km/h.
As a novelty, VW will provide a GTI Performance model which gets 230 horses and a 0-100 km/h sprint in 6,4 seconds.
Both models are offered with a six-speed manual transmission while a dual-clutch six-speed automatic one is also on the list.
Fuel economy figures are rated at 6 liters/100km and CO2 emissions of 139 g/km for the manual model. The automatic one will provide numbers of 6,4 liters/100km and 149 g/km of emissions.
Styling features of the new VW Golf GTI include a revised rear diffuser, new side sills, larger 17-inch alloy wheels and a sport chassis. You can place your order for the new Golf GTI starting next month, European prices starting at €28,350.
