The Australian V8 Supercar Series is just around the corner, with the Swedish car manufacturer announcing the forthcoming of its S60 racer for the event.
The Volvo S60 will be equipped with a naturally aspired 5.0-liter V8-engine, taken from the Volvo B844S production line, tuned to produce a massive 650 horsepower, running on E85 ethanol.
The power will be produced with the help of a six-speed sequential transmission, and it makes the car reach 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds. The racecar`s top speed is 185 mph.
This season, Volvo will bring forward two S50 racecars to compete against its top rivals like Ford, Nissan, Holden and also Mercedes-Benz.
There are 15 racing events to take part all around Australia, New Zeeland and Tasmania, starting with the end of this month.
In the past, Volvo had a very interesting racing story in the odd inclusion of Australian racing, with successful winnings at the 1986 Australian Touring Car Championship in a 240 and at the 1998 Bathhurst 1000 race.
