When we first heard about the Volvo S60 Polestar Concept we were thrilled at the idea. Once the details came in we had our doubts.
The announcement of it being the Swedish company’s attempt at rivaling the M3 gave us the impression that somebody at Volvo was aiming really high.
The M3 is definitely the yardstick in the segment of the market that speaks of sports sedans but that’s not what struck us this time.
A new announcement from the company speaks of the Volvo S60 Polestar Concept being sold already. Before you jump with joy, it’s not on sale yet.
The one off was sold to a very willing chap from the United States who paid 300.000 USD for it and didn’t take delivery yet.
There’s a very good reason for that. The collector (we’re guessing) agreed to a deal where the company won’t send him the car until they’ve finished showing it off to the media.
No actual changes for the production proposition, schedule or anything of the likes have been announced for Volvo. We do hope that if they decide to make it it won’t cost that much.
It almost certainly will if it ends up being a limited edition run or something of the likes. Exclusivity always costs the most, especially when considering numbers as low as this.
There’s some good news for us less fortunate however cause if Volvo wind up receiving plenty of requests to buy such a car they might make a business case for the Volvo S60 Polestar easier to present.
