Volkswagen has recently launched some teaser images with what seems to be a “high-tech” hybrid SUV, which would be launched at the upcoming 2016 Beijing Motor Show.
The concept would preview a much larger VW SUV, and even if the German carmaker has not released any official statements on that matter, the evolutionary body styling from the teaser images, might give away a big plug-in hybrid SUV, which would also boast with the latest driver oriented technology, like autonomous driving.
Taking a closer look at the SUV`s teaser images, one might depict a muscular design with prominent characteristics, plastic body cladding on the wheel arches, beefy hood with dual vents for engine air cooling, along with LED strip for the turn signals, and possibly taillights with organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).
Even if we do not have any interior pics, rumors have it that besides the autonomous driving technology, the all-new hybrid SUV would also come with the latest technology, making it “one of the most advanced luxury SUVs in the world.” The rumor mill might also indicate a possible future Touareg as a production version.
And since today`s advanced design lines of a new model give away the possibility of a plug-in hybrid version, this SUV`s C-shaped LED lights might also hint at a future plug-in hybrid. We could see a conventional engine and an electric motor, developing around 376 horsepower and 669 Nm of torque. The hybrid might also return 78 mpg in the combined New European Driving Cycle, while the battery would come with a 31-mile range.
